BIODiversE Bonaire was born from Carmen’s profound passion for diving and marine education, coupled with a desire to extend that exhilarating experience to others. Her vision was to create not just a dive center but a gateway for individuals to embark on unforgettable scuba diving adventures.

We provide a diverse array of marine education and diving courses, including fish survey dives, ostracod night dives, sea turtle ID dives and guided dives. What sets us apart is our distinctive approach to teaching, aiming to integrate the learning aspect into all our dives and snorkeling experiences.
Meet Our Marine Expert
Carmen Toanchina
Carmen Toanchina, a leader in marine education and conservation, has successfully established Biodiverse Bonaire, a Marine Education and Diving Center. Through this center, she aims to unveil the wonders of the underwater world and engage divers and snorkelers in citizen science programs. Carmen is a REEF Level 5 surveyor in the TWA region and Level 3 surveyor in the CIP region, contributing significantly to the REEF Volunteer Fish Survey Project, one of the world’s largest marine life databases.
Her pride extends to creating the Ostracod Bioluminescence Specialty Diver course, making her the exclusive instructor for this captivating program. Carmen’s commitment to introducing divers to the fascinating world of ostracods includes a citizen science component, encouraging observations and data submissions to enhance understanding.
Carmen’s deep affection for corals, fish, and sea turtles is vividly expressed through the conservation projects she has established. Her dedication extends to ongoing presentations, sharing knowledge and passion for marine life. As a leader in marine education and conservation, Carmen continues to inspire others to appreciate and actively contribute to the well-being of our oceans.
